Obama Asking Latino Celebrities For Help With Immigration

President Barack Obama is asking Latino celebrities to help him overhaul the nation’s immigration system. Yes, it’s true. For some reason, the president feels that enlisting celebrities — as opposed to using the political power to pass things like the DREAM Act when he had the chance — is a good way to pass immigration reform.

The president recently asked Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson, Gloria and Emilio Estefan and others to join him at the White House today for a meeting about the issue.

If you ask me, this is an insult not only to the millions of people affected by immigration reform directly, but to Latinos in general, assuming that just because you’re Latino it means you care about immigration. Besides, what do celebrities know about complex legal issues anyways?

  1. Sorry  Sara I disagree with your opinion , you may want to see the bigger picture here and that is to ask yourself , If you had the position and a need such as to reach the PUBLIC is it not best to go for the number? Sara,  as opposed to the the person that knows how to find facts on their own? I see that fame does not appeal so much to those that say, ” I am just as an influence  as anyone else” maybe so however if he reached out to an unknown how many of us really would listen? Excuse me but if I had a choice of seeing a familial face as to an unknown I would have to be honest and say the known familiar. So with that said would PalomoPicaso make a better commercial  than Gloria Estefan ? Who is PalomoPicaso is what you would probably
     say and choose Gloria !

  2. You hit the nail on the head.  What do actors know about the realities of real life? (Maybe they did before they became famous, but have been jaded by thee rose colored glass they now wear) Guess it shows that the Obama is an actor too, take one to know one.
