NM State Rep: “You’re Carrying The Mexican’s Water” In Reference To Gov

This is really random and strange, but also kind of racist. Here’s a snippet of what spurred New Mexico State Rep. Sheryl Williams Stapleton, D-Albuquerque to call out her state’s Republican Governor Susana Martinez, from the El Paso Times:

State Rep. Sheryl Williams Stapleton, unhappy about being criticized on television by a colleague, today lashed out at the governor and accused fellow Rep. Nora Espinoza of defamation.

In a loud and angry outburst at the State Capitol, Stapleton shouted at Espinoza: “You’re carrying the Mexican’s water on the fourth floor…”

Stapleton said she did not regret referring to the governor as a Mexican. Martinez grew up in El Paso, Texas.

Stapleton said she meant nothing by calling the governor a Mexican.

“I am half black and half Spanish,” Stapleton said. “I didn’t mean for it to be inflammatory.”

Respect in politics anyone?
