President Obama’s State Of The Union Resonates With Swing, Middle Class Voters

Results from a 50-person focus group with swing voters in Denver, Colorado following President Barack Obama’s State the Union address showed that his message resonated with middle-class voters. Especially his call that the wealthiest Americans pay more taxes, but also his messages on energy, education and foreign-policy. Of the 50 voters, slightly more had voted for McCain in 2008.  The chart below measures the shift voters experienced in his approval after the speech. [Photo By Democracy Corps]
