Latino Voters Barely Turn Out In Nevada Caucus

The Nevada State Democratic Party offered up that Latino voters making up only about 5% of the GOP caucus in Nevada today is evidence of the negative effects of the GOP’s extreme rhetoric. In a statement the party said:

At approximately 5% of the total vote according to the latest CNN Exit Polls, Hispanic turnout was especially low in today’s contest – a testament to Romney’s extreme immigration stance from calling the DREAM Act a “hand out” to campaigning with Kris Kobach, the man behind Arizona’s and Alabama’s anti-immigration laws.

The CNN poll is based on 843 samples. CNN exit polls are notoriously unreliable when it comes to sampling the black and Latino vote.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#NVREP For example, the 2010 exit poll for the general election showed 30% of Nevada Latinos voted for Sharron Angle, highly implausible given the atrocious anti-immigrant ads she ran.The problem is the design of the poll. National exit polls select a small number of precincts that demographically represent the overall state. However, blacks and Latinos who live in these precincts are not representative samples of blacks and Latinos.
