Unrest in Anaheim could lead to more Latino representation in city (Voxxi):  Today, the city of Anaheim remains the largest city in California where voters still elect council members on an at-large, citywide basis. In Anaheim’s 150-year history, only three Hispanics have ever served on its city council.

Dismal report released on boys and men of color (Contra Costa Times):  n California, by a 36 to 27 percent ratio, young African-American men without a high school diploma or its equivalent are more likely to be found languishing in prison than working a regular job. Young Latino men are roughly 40 percent more likely than white men to wind up serving time in an adult prison. And African-American kindergartners are more than three times as likely as their white playmates to believe they lack the ability to succeed in school.

Hispanic Group Claims a Marriage of Cultures is Creating a New Standard in the U.S. (PR Newswire):  Everyone knows that yellow and blue make green … but what do Latino and non-Latino make?  For starters, it’s causing a new dynamic called interculturization—the interaction and marriage of different cultures.

Cruz joins Team Romney (Houston Chronicle):  U.S. Senate nominee Ted Cruz is looking like Mitt Romney’s new best friend, in what some call a smart move by the presumed GOP presidential nominee to tap into tea party enthusiasm and showcase Latino support.

Bush, the 36-year-old son of former Florida governor Jeb Bush and his wife, Mexican-American Columba Bush, will be the new deputy finance chairman of the Texas Republican Party.  The young Bush has been increasing his involvement in politics for some time now, and is closely being touted as a Latino Republican who is quickly becoming one of the more high-profile young faces of the GOP.

Spanish Ad Blasts Obama as ‘Deporter-in-Chief’ (ABC News):  The 30-second spot – “No More Lies” – blasts Obama for failing to keep his 2008 campaign promise to enact comprehensive immigration reform and calls his recent deferred action order for young illegal immigrants too little, too late.

Mexico finds 100s of bones in unusual Aztec burial (Associated Press/Seattle Times):  Mexican archaeologists say they have found an unprecedented human burial in which the skeleton of a young woman is surrounded by piles of 1,789 human bones in Mexico City’s Templo Mayor.
