Will the House take action on immigration in 2014?

It’s possible. But it would be very difficult.

On May 30th, immigration reporter Erica Werner tweeted a rumor that Speaker of the House John Boehner was contemplating “an immigration vote” in the House in mid-June:

This is the first report of any House Republican timetable for immigration reform. Boehner has repeatedly said he “wants” to take action on immigration in 2014, but any time he’s tried to pressure his caucus to take up the issue, the backlash has caused him to back down.

Boehner has also said that it will be impossible for the House to pass any immigration bill unless it can start trusting President Obama to “enforce the law” —
