Iñarritu’s “Birdman” snags 7 Golden Globe nominations

Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu’s “Birdman” picked up seven Golden Globe nominations on Thursday, matching the Mexican filmmaker’s 2006 opus “Babel.”

Iñarritu, 51, was nominated for best screenplay and best director, a category fellow countryman Alfonso Cuaron won last time around for “Gravity.”

“Birdman” is the favorite in the category of best film comedy of the year, while stars Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone received nods for best actor, best supporting actor and best supporting actress, respectively.
