Vicente Fernández, icon of ranchera music, to give farewell concert in Mexico City’s Zócalo

Mexican ranchera singer Vicente Fernandez will have his farewell concert in the Zocalo, Mexico City’s largest plaza, in the middle of this year, Sony Music said.

The 74-year-old singer and actor, considered an icon of the ranchera music genre, said he was preparing for the concert with “much emotion.”

“I always said that I would like to say farewell there with all of my people,” the singer said in a statement.

Fernandez said it would be hard to select the songs for the concert, but he vowed to give fans an unforgettable performance.
