U.S. congresswoman: Cuban Adjustment Act to be modified

Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida said that she believes there will be a modification of the Cuban Adjustment Act and criticized the abuse of current regulations by some Cubans who are returning to the island after legalizing their immigration status in the United States under the immigration law established in 1966.

The Cuban-American lawmaker said that President Barack Obama’s new policy toward the communist island presents a “contradiction.”

“Something’s going to have to change because you can’t have these two concepts, of persecution and diplomatic relations,” said Ros-Lehtinen in an interview with Miami’s El Nuevo Herald newspaper.
