Obama’s pick for Mexico ambassador moves forward

*GOP Senators delayed her nomination because of her role in the thawing of U.S.-Cuba relations.  Yet, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) spoke against her this week. Any Senator can put the confirmation on “hold.” The thinking is that this is likely to happen. VL

President Barack Obama’s pick to be the next ambassador to Mexico is ready for a confirmation vote in front of the full Senate.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the nomination of Roberta Jacobson on Tuesday morning, 12-7, according to Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and committee sources. Her nomination had been slowed in committee by Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, who peppered her with dozens of written questions as she awaited panel approval.
