Good morning Taquistas!

It’s Fiesta Friday in San Antonio, lots of folks in the city have the day off and I’m writing this anticipating a good Spring Day. So let’s get the day started.

There’s a new Latino Decisions poll out. This one was commissioned by America’s Voice and I found it interesting because it adds a nuance to the basic Latino attitude question.

Friday’s numbers

36 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say the economy/jobs is the most important overall issue that Congress and the President should address.

29 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say immigration is the most important overall issue that Congress and the President should address.

13 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say education and healthcare are the most important overall issues that Congress and the President should address.

41 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say immigration is the most important Latino issue that Congress and the President should address.

24 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say jobs and the economy are the most important Latino issue that Congress and the President should address.

16 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say education is the most important Latino issue that Congress and the President should address.

10 – The percentage of polled Latinos who say anti-Latino or anti-immigrant discrimination is the most important Latinoissue that Congress and the President should address.

►Latino Lawmakers, Others Push to Stop Veterans’ Deportations

This is huge.

NBC News reports that “A group of House members who served in the Armed Forces, led by Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., are calling for an end to the deportations of military veterans who are immigrants.

“The lawmakers introduced a bill that would reunite deported veterans with their families and prevent the deportation of veterans in the future. The veterans are legal residents, which is required to serve in the military. Immigrants here illegally are barred from serving.”
