It’s always good news when the fight against teen pregnanciy scores a win. We’ll start with that this morning.

Friday’s numbers

38 – The number of pregnancies per 1000 Latinas ages 15 to 19 in 2014.

77 – The number of pregnancies per 1000 Latinas ages 15 to 19 in 2006.

51 – The reduction percentage of pregnancies among Latinas ages 15 to 19 between 2006 and 2014.

35 – The number of pregnancies per 1000 Black women ages 15 to 19 in 2014.

17 – The number of pregnancies per 1000 White women ages 15 to 19 in 2014.

4 million – The number of babies born in the U.S. in 2014.

250,000 – The number of babies born in the U.S. to mothers ages 15 to 19 in 2014

That’s from a story in The Root about how blacks and Latinos are the most affected by gun violence, and how those communities feel that no one cares.

The “comprehensive study, ‘Engaging Communities in Reducing Gun Violence: A Road Map for Safer Communities,’ will be released by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, the Urban Institute and the Joyce Foundation.”
