Happy Friday From Caetano Veloso

Like a fine wine Caetano Veloso is a performer who just seems to get better with age. The Brazilian singer-songwriter extraordinaire is became known during the 1960s as one of the founders of the Tropicalismo movement, an avant-garde music style that blended poetry, politics, African rhythms and rock and roll.

Veloso’s music and political views forced him into exile from Brazil during the military dictatorship in 1969, but upon his return to his homeland in the early 1970′s, his fame rose even higher as he became one of the most popular Brazilian singers worldwide.

I had the pleasure of seeing Veloso perform in Buenos Aires in 2010, and he had the Spanish-speaking crowd singing along to almost every word in Portuguese. Enjoy some of his videos below and have a great weekend!
