Laredo Christmas: The Nacimiento Tradition

Acatually, we’re tagging along with Ito Romo and Ray Santisteban who produced this short film. It’s a tribute to Ito’s grandmother and her nacimiento, an homage to a wonderful cultural tradition.

I’ve known Ito for many, many years, and Ray is a friend as well, and I thank them for sharing this.

Ray Santisteban’s 2006 documentary film of author Ito Romo’s grandmother, Sofia G. Villarreal, and the amazing nativity scene she created for over 60 years at her home in Laredo, Texas.  The “nacimiento” included over 1000 figurines and a river with running water.  We dedicate this film to her memory.
