Arizona Has Tentative Redistricting Maps
Last night Arizona’s Independent Redistricting Commission approved tentative redistricting maps, that according to The Arizona Republic:
creates four GOP-leaning districts, two that favor Democrats and three competitive districts.
Commission attorneys and an analyst must still review the lines, but officials say this version — or something extremely close to it — will be the one they send to the U.S. Justice Department for approval.
It’s the same political alignment as the draft map approved 2½ months ago, but adjusted to reflect suggestions made during the month-long public-comment period this fall.
DA Morales reported:
The legislative map has 16 districts deemed safe for Republicans, 10 that are safe for Democrats and four that are considered competitive.
