Cecilia Muñoz Appointed Director Of The White House Domestic Policy Council

As we reported earlier today, Cecilia Muñoz has been appointed Director of The White House Domestic Policy Council. She replaces Melody Barnes. If you recall, Muñoz has been the target of much controversy for defending the White House’s Secure Communities program.

The WSJ reports:

In her new role, she’ll oversee policy making on a wide range of domestic issues including education, energy and health care. She’ll continue to manage immigration policy as well.

And she’ll be included in daily 7:30 a.m. senior staff meetings. This is a promotion, before she was talking about immigration, but overseeing local governments. Now she’s a part of domestic policy discussions, such as immigration.
