Project Sheds Light On People Affected By AL Immigration Law

As part of a project to raise awareness about H.B. 56, Alabama’s anti-immigrant bill, Director Chris Weitz is letting people who have been affected by the law speak for themselves on video.  “Is This Alabama?” is a joint effort between the Center for American Progress, America’s Voice Education Fund, and Define American.

Offering several different perspectives of life in Alabama after H.B. 56, the videos show Alabamians and immigrants discussing the law.  From fervent H.B. 56 supporters, teachers who are obligated by law to ask questions they never wanted to ask, to undocumented immigrants who live inconstant fear of deportation, “Is This Alabama?” lets people share their experiences of life under the law in their own words.
