7 Latinos To Co-Chair Obama’s Campaign

Last week President Barack Obama’s campaign announced its lineup of 35 campaign co-chairs who will “serve as ambassadors for the President, advise the campaign on key issues, and help engage and mobilize voters in all 50 states.” Among them were senators, former cabinet members, governors, and seven Latinos and Latinas:

  • Lynnette Acosta – OFA volunteer leader from Florida
  • Mayor Julian Castro – Mayor of San Antonio
  • Maria Elena Durazo – Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO
  • Representative Charles A. Gonzalez – Representing the 20th District of Texas
  • Eva Longoria – Actress and Philanthropist
  • Secretary Federico Peña – Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation and U.S. Secretary of Energy
  • Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa – Mayor of Los Angeles
