Blocking Latino Votes (The New York Times):  “Latino Growth Not Fully Felt at Voting Booth” (front page, June 10) discussed how Latino voter participation lags behind that of other groups and attributed the gap, among other reasons, to a lack of faith among many potential Latino voters that electoral participation makes a difference in their lives.

Latino voter enthusiasm, a key indicator for Obama, trending up (The Los Angeles Times):  As President Obama prepares to address an influential Latino political organization, a new opinion survey finds that Latino voters in battleground states say they are more enthusiastic about the election this year than they were in 2008.

Latino Voters Are Still An Uphill Climb For Mitt Romney: Poll (Huffington Post):   President Barack Obama still leads Republican challenger Mitt Romney among Latino voters in five swing states, and his recent decision to halt deportation of undocumented young people upped enthusiasm, according to a poll released Friday by Latino Decisions.

Latino Bishop Encourages Protest of Contraception Coverage (Fox News Latino):  Catholic bishops are encouraging followers to spend the next two weeks praying and writing their representatives in Congress in what they are calling at “Fortnight of Freedom.” The bishops are upset with the Obama Administrations mandate that employers provide contraception coverage for employees either directly or through their insurance plans.

Supreme Court Set to Rule on Arizona Immigration Law (The Wall Street Journal):   The U.S. Supreme Court is set to decide the fate of Arizona’s tough anti-immigration law this week, in a ruling likely to affect the national debate over immigration ahead of the November elections.

Immigration ruling this week (The Washington Post):  This week the Supreme Court will issue a ruling in the Arizona immigration statute case. Betting among the legal gurus who follow this case is that at least some of the Arizona law will be upheld.

Supreme Court to decide on President Obama’s historic health care bill (New York Daily News):  The signature legislative accomplishment of President Obama’s first term could be struck down this week — and the fallout will impact whether he gets a second. The Supreme Court will announce its decision on the President’s historic health care reform in the next few days and some, or all, of it could be found unconstitutional.
