Can Latinos Turn Red States To Swing States?

By Victor Landa, NewsTaco Editor

It seems we can’t stop taking about the Latino vote – especially this year with such a tight presidential horse race and so much potential locked up behind the gates at Latino-heavy polls.

The numbers are fascinating. If you slice them and parse them and fit them into any number of scenarios you can make a case for Latino voter influence on many levels: Latino voters can influence the outcome of the Presidential electoral map; Latinos can flex their voting muscle and change the political nature of  traditional conservative states…

The 300 pound chango in the room, though, is Latino voter participation. Because the numbers, up until now, speak of pure potential.  All the talk is stuck in potential if Latinos don’t register and go to the polls.

That said, our friends at Huffington Post convened a conversation about the Latino vote and it’s potential to turn red states into swing states. NewsTaco was intivted to participate.
