MSNBC’s “The Cycle” Takes Mexican Twinkie Story Too Far

By Latino Rebels

Earlier this week on MSNBC, S.E. Cupp—one of the co-hosts of MSNBC’s The Cycleintroduced a discussion about how the beloved American iconic food might be bought out by Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest bakery company. Now when the initial story came out, a lot of people commented on the irony of it all: a Mexican company was coming to save an American icon and American jobs. Most of our readers understood this irony, and were feeling a bit proud of the fact, even though later today, the Hostess CEO thought that a purchase by Grupo Bimbo was highly unlikely.

But that didn’t stop the hosts of The Cycle taking the time to mock it all: snickering while Cupp was pronouncing the name of Grupo Bimbo and laughing at the image of the sombrero Twinkie while Cupp was hamming it up with her “MÉXICO” and “south of the border” comments. Har. Har. Har. More stereotypes for everyone!

Here is the clip.

And yeah, we know that Twinkies isn’t the most healthiest of foods. But, still, a Mexican company wants to buy an American icon. Proving once again that we are not just a bunch of sombreros.
