Zoe Saldana’s newest role is behind the camera as she partners with Lionsgate to create new television and film projects. Saldana – whose on-screen performances include roles in “Star Trek” and “Avatar” – has signed a deal with Lionsgate, that will allow her production company to offer the major film studio a “first look” to develop TV and movie projects aimed at Hispanic audiences, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The deal between Saldana Productions and Pantelion Films – a Latino-focused film venture within Lionsgate whose past productions include “Casa de Mi Padre” and “Girl in Progress” – is a part of an overhaul push by the movie studio to attract Hispanic audiences, reports THR.

“We look forward to a fruitful and productive relationship with Pantelion,” said Saldana in a statement.

Saldana owns Saldana Studios with younger sister Cisely.

“You can always have deep and profound relationships with women, but the divine bond I have with my sisters is beyond this world,” the 35-year-old said of her sisters Cisley and Mariel in aJuly interview on “The Conversation.”

Their bond has made her less prone to seek friendships with other females, said Saldana, who explained with other girlfriends, “my heart would get broken so much with gossip.”

“I started sticking to my sisters and learning to appreciate what I have at home,” shared Saldana. “It’s an obsession. We’re not jealous, we’re not competitive with each other. We’re so supportive.”
