Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival devoted to culture, humanity

Following a year’s hiatus, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival returns for its 16th edition.

Tough economic times have been hard on these kinds of things; the New York International Latino Film Festival’s plug got pulled last month. But while LALIFF 2013 may only run half the length of some earlier versions, the five-day event that starts Thursday is jam-packed with goodies: 62 films, including 28 features (most of which are world, national, West Coast or local premieres), 11 documentaries and 23 shorts from 10 countries, most of which will screen Friday through Monday at Hollywood & Highland’s Chinese 6 Theatres.
