Here’s Where Republicans Are Winning With Hispanics

*Here’s an interesting tidbit from this opinion piece: “According to NALEO, Democrats had 115 fewer Hispanic officeholders in 2013 (after a strong Democratic election year) than they did in 2004 … ”  The GOP has 2 U.S. Latino Senators, 2 Latino Governors. Is this a GOP win? Rank and file Latinos are still vote heavily Democratic (those who vote, that is). And then there’s this bold assertion, again from the article: Latinos are persuadable voters – “This is a generation grounded in the philosophy of Ronald Reagan, not Cesar Chavez.” Thoughts?

Republicans are anxious about the demographic problem they face, and rightly so. The future America is more diverse, and the party cannot remain competitive unless it learns how to appeal to a larger share of the Hispanic vote than it does today.

Amid all the Republican’s problems, it would be easy to overlook the fact that Democrats face their own demographic problem — admittedly of a different nature, but possibly almost as important.
