America’s politicians are looking to score off the World Cup.

As U.S. viewers tune in in record numbers, lawmakers in the congressional soccer caucus (which actually has 26 members and was formally recognized by the House on Tuesday) are using the sports blockbuster to connect with constituents. A GOP candidate in Arizona plans to air ads during the monthlong tournament to reach out to Latino voters. And even Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid referred to the World Cup in a speech that touched on the hot-button immigration issue.

The U.S. men’s 2-1 victory over Ghana on Monday night upped the fervor.

Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a Democrat, and the National Republican Congressional Committee were among the many who rooted for the team on Twitter, using hashtags such as #USA and #OneNationOneTeam. Even HealthCare.gov social media accounts chimed in with a customized World Cup graphic and message of support for team USA.
