Radio show a program of ‘Mexican roots music’

*This falls squarely within the idea of “this is how it’s done.”  Two people following their passion, preserving cultura. Straight from the RGV! (For the uninitiated, that’s the Rio Grande Valley, of Texas) H/t to Tex[t] Mex Galleryblog. VL

A lively orchestral instrumental titled “Rio Grande” by the Beto Villa Orchestra kicks off local radio show North of the Border before the hosts Rosa and Joe Perez of Olmito introduce themselves.

The couple, both retired educators, have been married 44 years and make up the musical duo Rumbo Al’Anacua.

They describe their show on Public Radio 88 FM as a 30 minute program of Mexican roots music with socio-historical commentary in English.

Rosa said the show provides “a musical perspective from the Texas side of the Rio Grande.”

The couple hosts, records, and produces the weekly radio show themselves.
