The spokesman for that force, Jose Ramon Salinas, and officials from the Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office confirmed the arrests on Tuesday.
Jose Luis Abarca and his wife, Maria de los Angeles Pineda, were detained at a house they had apparently been renting in the Mexico City borough of Iztapalapa, according to local media, which said the owner of the residence alerted authorities to their presence.
